So, the NCAA claims that their biggest focus is on the student athletes and their ability to learn. As anyone who’s traveled knows, travelling is a tiring, draining experience that can often take up your entire day. Of course, the NCAA illustrates an understanding of these difficulties by arranging in-conference games like SMU/East Carolina, TCU/Iowa State, Marshall/UTEP, Washington/Arizona, and probably the best one, Idaho/Applachian State.

Since clearly, maintaining football rivalries isn’t the primary reason that we have such an asinine set up, it stands to reason that there’s gotta be a way to clean this up, minimize travel distance for athletes, and by extension, cut down on fuel costs and help the environment. Or something.

So, here’s my proposed realignment, only considering minimizing travel distances for players:
